Why I do what I do

This website will give you a glimpse into my work as an artist,  community builder and activist. I have been negotiating the world through the lens of a creative entrepreneur for the last two decades. It's been a wonderful journey with a lot of learning and collaborating with people I deeply respect.
In the coming years, I believe that creative thinkers will be crucial to document, stitch, hold and present the world. We are at the very edge of collapse on one side, and of a future that can spin out into unimaginable wonders on the other. I believe we can get to the happier side by working together!

Snakes & Lotuses at C/O Pop, Cologne + 1ShantiRoad Gallery, B’lore

July 31st, 2008

Girls – Here is some good news to report. Snakes & Lotuses has been invited to participate in the C/O Pop Festival at Cologne, Germany from the 13th to the 15th of August. I will be headed over to Germany on the 8th and will be there through till the 20th. This was a lucky break for me. The group of 10 artists and industry big-wigs include musicians, CEO’s of record labels and journalists from Pakisthan, India and Sri Lanka. The trip is sponsored by the Goethe Institute in collaboration with the C/O Pop folks.

I will also be having a 3 day showing of this body of work at 1 ShantiRoad Gallery from the 29th to the 31st of August. This is the first time Snakes & Lotuses will be showing in India (and hopefully not the last). This is a solo show and I really would love to see how people react to it.

In general, I am a bit nervous, especially of the Blore show. I want to make this debut a good and solid one. Unfortunately the bad news is that over the last 20 days I have been having a bad time with my back. Have injured my lower back and neck and its reached a point of intensity that I have been ordered complete bed-rest. Yep I’m cheating to be posting this one up. I hope to god I can make it for the germany trip. The worst is that I am unable to sit up for more than 30 mins at a stretch, and so cant really get a ton of work that needs to get done completed :(

This also explains my absence from this blog – no real work to report in either. Pooj – Nirali and I hung out for a wee bit when she came into town. spent a few hours at my studio chatting about art and work and life. Missed you of course :)
