Why I do what I do

This website will give you a glimpse into my work as an artist,  community builder and activist. I have been negotiating the world through the lens of a creative entrepreneur for the last two decades. It's been a wonderful journey with a lot of learning and collaborating with people I deeply respect.
In the coming years, I believe that creative thinkers will be crucial to document, stitch, hold and present the world. We are at the very edge of collapse on one side, and of a future that can spin out into unimaginable wonders on the other. I believe we can get to the happier side by working together!

Beliner + C/O Pop

August 28th, 2008

Met some great folks though this trip. 10 boys and girls from across India, Pak and Sri Lanka. Artist (me), Musicians, journalists and festival organisers were in the mix sent by the Goethe Institute to interact with our German counter parts. It was one of those lucky unions of mind and soul. I found me more family :)

It was a super eye-opener week. Connected with art groups, artists, VJ groups and musicians across Europe through the C/O Pop circuit. Saw truly alternative and progressive art splattered in the streets, in the galleries and in the homes of the this truly liberal, golden society. I love Germany!

There is something to be said for art that is disassociated from money-making. Rather inadvertently the German government through their social welfare plan, has become the major patron of artists. It has created a hub, a buzz and pure creative freedom to those that practice there. The electronica scene is so crazy vibrant and the art is of and for the people!

Ja man! I am going back there as soon as I can.

Of the many super things that will come our of this trip, one is the Nameless Now project. It basically is a groups of electronica artists (DJ’s, musicians) and I pushing towards a live performance music-visual art set. The hope is to take the show across India and Sri Lanka initially and then eventually to Germany. It is a collab of artists from 4 countries, and seeks to extend beyond and reach others as well…

It, in many ways, is my dream and vision for my video art, coming alive. Wish me the best on this one girlies!

  • Wow arch! all of it sounds so cool. its like an utopian society that we all want to be a part of!
i think 3for should aim to create a society like this. Like we’ve started something between the three of us, and now push it, have our first show, and then start to invite other artists, bring it all together. Why must the Germans have all the fun!! Lets create like a “branch” of sorts in india – bangalore, and one here in the states!
sooo cool. great dream. German govt seems so cool. I’m with you girl. I want to go there!!
Good luck with your project. Sounds fantastic. And you know what? I know you will make it happen, and i know that before you know it, you’ll be living in germany. Think you would consider a permanent move there? I sooo see it happening!
    You go Archana!!

  • hmmm…perma move sounds a unlikely. I love India too much. Its in my blood. Need the tropical sun, dust, grime and sykosis of here. But I would totally consider a year or two there most happily 😀

I think your stream is video / digital, it would be great to see how it would be incorporated into a 3For exhibition… Just a thought, with paintings by Pooja completely work on a video installation or something of the sort… what say? Just a suggestion…
