Why I do what I do

This website will give you a glimpse into my work as an artist,  community builder and activist. I have been negotiating the world through the lens of a creative entrepreneur for the last two decades. It's been a wonderful journey with a lot of learning and collaborating with people I deeply respect.
In the coming years, I believe that creative thinkers will be crucial to document, stitch, hold and present the world. We are at the very edge of collapse on one side, and of a future that can spin out into unimaginable wonders on the other. I believe we can get to the happier side by working together!

Archana has added you to the FriendsofSamuha group with this message:

I have added you to the Friends of Samuha mailing list. Figured that you would be interested to know about our activities in the art space.

Samuha, an artist initiative and collective that launches its collective common ground on the 22nd of June at 5pm at ADA Rangamandira, JC Road, Bangalore. We have a ton of information about us, and why we exist at

Hope to see you at the launch if you are in town!

Here is the group’s description:
Samuha is a collective of art practitioners from Bangalore, India. Our collective space scheduled to run for a year from 22.06.09 encourages contemporary artists to showcase their work and interact with the public. If you are an artist or an art enthusiast, you should stay on this list.

GIrls – I worked long and hard on this project as the Co-initiator, Finance and Communications person. See my baby’s site. It really did take all of 9 months to birth.

  • thanks arch! sounds like a great initiative. will definitely keep checking it out.

  • Hmmm sometimes technology foxes me. Dunno how my mail managed to get posted here…or perhaps late, late at night I did it myself?

Pooj – you were asking about what I plan for the show. I think, firstly, we should definitely decide on how we are going to use the space so that each of us feel that we have an equal part in it.

My works might involve – 4 to 5 large format paintings (approx 6x7ft) and some projection work. The projected video might actually work on the canvas painting too…not sure. In fact a bit unsure also about what the base for the paintings will be. Will it be canvas, wood, acrylic board…unknown.

Essentially I would think that given we have 144ft of wall space each of us plan to use about 45 ft. It need not be in one stretch, but this number will help us plan for what size and what numbers of works we each need to do.

My POA is going to look something like this:
July, Aug, – German, Jaaga, Samuha, Art & the City
Sept – Poetry Transcription, Jaaga, Samuha, Art & the City
Oct – Berlin, Poetry book complete
Nov, Dec, Jan – 4 to 5 Paintings + fine tune book, Art & the City
Feb – Design and plan Blur Exhibition + plan 3For exhibition, Art & the City

Phew! It looks soo bliddy packed!!
When are you due madam? And please tell me that you will be able to somehow make it over. Yes?

    Keep blogging!!
