Why I do what I do

This website will give you a glimpse into my work as an artist,  community builder and activist. I have been negotiating the world through the lens of a creative entrepreneur for the last two decades. It's been a wonderful journey with a lot of learning and collaborating with people I deeply respect.
In the coming years, I believe that creative thinkers will be crucial to document, stitch, hold and present the world. We are at the very edge of collapse on one side, and of a future that can spin out into unimaginable wonders on the other. I believe we can get to the happier side by working together!

Tapestry Series

The measurements of the new piece will be 48″ x 22″ for each panel. There will be a total of 4 panels. As they will be unstretched, there will also be a 3″ border running around each of the panels for the OPTION of stretching. Who knows I might just prefer them to stay hung as tapestries maybe with a dowel on the top.
I’m also thinking of maybe having the edges sewn with decorative threading. To kind of include the textile element. I have just finished the rough drawing.
Next step is to make place on the wall. Tack up the canvas and prep it.
Super excited!
Question: How many “rooms” are there total in Jaaga. Arch you said the space is very big and we should utilize as much as we can. How much space are we talking about?
I was thinking one room can have a projector or somthing with our blog. flashing images of all the entries over time. And then you enter the other room and it is a kind of reception room with the catalogue and a table for comments etc. Keep it sparse. ANd then we move onto the final works for the exhibition.
What do you girls think? I think it could be a super cool exhibit! I dont think the concept has been done before!!

  • Hey Poojie, I think the tapestry thing is cool and sewing up the sides with decorative threading would be neat.
Hopefully the 3 of us shall manage to chat on Tuesday morning, to know about the rooms, display etc. lets see whats feasible regarding projections of out blog. I think the imp. thing is about our e-catalogue , i.e. of course once our works are ready! If sandy is not doing it, who would…

  • Jaaga is large – about 4ooo sq feet split across 4 levels.

each room is approx 13 x 13 feet for each room. Some room are a little larger. The ground floor is the largest where its all of 1200 sq ft interrupted only by steel verticals at regular intervals.

Perhaps one way to look at it is that we focus all our work to one level (eg. ground). then your work pooj can hang in the from the top niralis can be on the wall areas and mine…since I havent even started on this…we’ll see where that goes when the time comes.
