Why I do what I do

This website will give you a glimpse into my work as an artist,  community builder and activist. I have been negotiating the world through the lens of a creative entrepreneur for the last two decades. It's been a wonderful journey with a lot of learning and collaborating with people I deeply respect.
In the coming years, I believe that creative thinkers will be crucial to document, stitch, hold and present the world. We are at the very edge of collapse on one side, and of a future that can spin out into unimaginable wonders on the other. I believe we can get to the happier side by working together!

Nagjibhai Sculpture

c
November 30th, 2010

This sculpture in a circle very close to where I stay is done by a well-known artist Nagji Patel, who lives in the city. The circle is named ‘Nagjibhai circle’. These two tall stylised Bamboo tree forms mark the city and could stand out purely in an artistic sense, seeming as a unique artistic expression. Baroda is filled with Banyan trees. Thus very literally, this sculptural form appears to signify it.
My painting is to signify a celebration. I feel these decorative forms appear as a gateway to introduce joyous movement or celebration rendered by the colors and wavy lines.

  • Very interesting. I like the way you are swarming ahead. I mean, taking a work that is already made by an artist and making it your own is really bold and actually correct only :) I love it. Also, somehow, through these works, I get a feeling of understanding the sentiment of a city and of your connection-reaction to it.

    Way to go girl!

  • I have worked more on it… shall post a new image soon
